It's unlimited, use it whenever, never lost, just email and we will say no - go on later (you cant play the I'll loose my vacation card anymore). Oh and btw don't forget to check and reply to those emails while you're away - we will hold you responsible for delays while you were out living.

I agree it's ridiculous that you should get paid out for your accrued pto. At Grant thornton we got paid out for our accursed pto 5 years ago when we switched to unlimited pto.
But as far as unlimited pto being a scam, that's entirely up to the individual person. Some people feel "bad" taking time off, but that's on that person, not the firm. I took 40 days off last year lol. No issues whatsoever and it didn't affect my year end bonus/raise. People need to care less about their teams and more about themselves. Be selfish!

You just don't have much vacation. Stats show unlimited actually results in less than normal taken.
