Can someone explain the point of tipping for a service where the tip isn’t the direct salary of the person? For example a waiter gets paid off of tips, great yes tip. But why should I tip a taxi driver who dropped me off after paying them the amount ? Is that amount not for the service I’m paying for? Sure if they help me with bags I’ll tip. Or like tipping the person who handed me my coffee, like I paid for this coffee why do I need to tip for you to hand it over the counter?
