Can someone please explain why everyone keeps saying FAANG, not FAAMG?

Microsoft has the largest market cap of any company (4x Netflix), and evidenced the ability to diversify revenue streams unlike Netflix

Clearly FAGMA is at least pronounceable!

Because when the term was coined Microsoft was in the doldrums, and it is old tech, so hence FAANG for the winners of new tech.

For those that don’t know, FAANG originated in the investing world by Jim Cramer. I believe he’s recently suggested it should be FAAM now

That's why saying Big Tech makes 100% more sense, so you don't need to change the acronym every few years as companies gain and lose eligibility conditions.

Part of it is potentially the brand cache. Microsoft isn’t hyper-trendy and hasn’t grabbed headlines in the same way the others have

They actually have a ton in the past 2 years! Definitely much better / more coveted in the past few years

like

FAANG is from the investment and stocks acronyms. Shares worth investing in

By market cap, Its really MAGA stocks (FB and especially Netflix smaller): microsoft, apple, google, amazon

FAANG is an outdated term.

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.

Why do Big 4 firms interview you for a specific position level and then try to make you come in below that level...

How difficult would it be to exit into MBB from Big 4 financial services consulting? Obviously it’s dependent on the candidate, but is this a switch one can accomplish without going back for an MBA?

EY Deloitte PwC people - would you leave your current employer for a 15%-25% total comp difference? This translates to a 25-45k difference per annum, largely driven by bonus at the new firm (20-40%), much smaller than my current employer. Doesn’t feel like a great exit opportunity - currently at big 4 this would be moving to a niche consulting company

Leaving soon for brand management role in CPG which I’m really excited about but curious if this will close the door to opportunities (product marketing, non technical product manager) in tech in the future. Really interested in the brand management role but if I end up not liking it the comp trajectory is not nearly as good as tech and wanted to know if that door will still be open. 2YOE, if I make a switch would likely be at 4-5YOE assuming I don’t go MBA route
