Long story!
Worked in IBM in Bangalore but was into transition and transformation. I wanted to move to project management, but was rejected a couple of times for IJP due to lack of knowledge. Then I thought, if not internally why not external. Started looking for jobs in Project Management in Kolkata which is my native and after 15 applications got calls from Capgemini, Erricson and BT.
1st Round: HR called in asking for my skills and about the work I do. Conversation lasted for 15mins - 45mins (as I stated comparing three companies) - Jun 2020
Started learning about PRINCE 2 principles and completed a module.
2nd Round: Enablement Lead from BT called in and discussed about the role and again discussed about my skills. This time I added Project Management in my portfolio and I was honest that I completed a module. Hiring Manager called in from Erricson and discussed role again and the conversation ended with me stepping out as I was not ready for the role being offered - July 2020
I set my targets and learned Networking (module based)
3rd Round: Hiring Manager from BT called in and asked about Project Management principles and basics of Networking (Switches, OSI, MPLS, etc). Capgemini called in and from what I understood that it was a role for Transition again, hence I stepped back. - Sept 2020
4th Round: Senior Manager and Ops Manager scheduled a Teams Call and it was about Organizational behavior, ethics, Continuous Improvement, and deep diving into project management (questions about Themes in Project Management) - Sept 2020
I got the news of Selection in Sept 2020 just 3 or 4 days after 4th round. I put down my papers - Sept
5th Round: Casual conversation with Senior Manager, what will be the expectations as an employee. HR called in for salary discussion. Initially 25% but later revised to 40% after negotiation. I did not budge any more as Kolkata is a cheaper place to live as compared to Bangalore.
Oct 2020 - Email with Provisional Offer letter, forms, etc. Joining date shared.
Nov 2020 - Inducted into BT and final Offer Letter shared with me.
Salary range for Level E ?
