Yes- make it habit to write whatever key information you are listening to in one note. After 2-3 weeks you should be able to fix this. Thank me later
This seems like a classic self diagnosis and fix problem rather than adhd bud sorry
I hear you!
I zone out with too much information, almost like a coping mechanism

I think it’s natural to lose interest or focus on a large meeting with no context. I wouldn’t pay attention either if I didn’t know half of what was being discussed.
The advice I’d give is review your notes after the meeting and highlight the items you are unfamiliar with. Maybe it’s an acronym or a person or a group. Do some research to find out these things. I think asking a boss for some context isn’t handholding, just keep the questions brief and direct. Like “what is RBC and who was the John talking about it” such a question could open insightful dialogue.
Don’t request an hour long meeting for an interpretation of an hour long meeting
I’m always afraid to ask these questions because I’m afraid I’m “supposed” to already know what RBC is and who John is. There is so much constant chaos and change at my firm, coupled with siloed workflows.
So I can never tell whether I don’t know something because I was briefed but missed it in all the chaos, or whether I don’t know it because there was no way for me to without being told, and that never happened.
Makes it seem like more of a risk to ask clarifying questions and less of a risk to just fumble along and hope I can figure it out at some point. YMMV
I try really hard to have a fidget or “the right level of distraction” going on that enables me to be present. Or something I can do just out of shot that keeps my brain happy but enables me to listen.
Things like a pebble, a coin, an eraser. Simple things that I can just turn over in my hand or mess about with.
