Hello Sharks, Hope all are doing good,
I am a associate java developer having knowledge and experience on Java, Spring mvc, Spring boot, Hibernate, MySQL. Recently I have joined another IT company. The surprising thing is they are providing training on Scala Programming language .I don't have any knowledge about Scala Programming, Slick and Postgresql. Is Scala developer having good future and demand. Can I better to try for other company to stay in java technology only. EY Infosys Cognizant

I have a somewhat similar problem.
I have not been promoted once in my career, but have raised my salary 300% since I started out of school 4 years ago...
I think it’s fairly agreed that M’s in consulting tend to have the best exits all around, showing you can get promoted is another very important factor (shows competence).
All this being said, who cares, if you hate it, 6 months in, start applying, keep applying until something sticks!

Still a dope increase. Nice job! Let’s get it to 300% ASAP 🍻

I'd recommand staying until as a Manager and running engagments for a few years and exiting at a Director or Sr. Director level. It will take you longer to land a comparable role as you get more experience. If you want to pivot into and stay in tech, you should exit sooner. Just be aware the market is very competitive now. Things might loosen up a bit in 2022.

This is helpful. I’m targeting a new role in 2022 so I’ll make a ‘director-level’ the goal vs. Sr. Mgr. I am targeting tech but health tech.

Do I need the ‘M’ title to get better roles in industry or late-stage startup? This summer I interviewed for Sr. Mgr roles in industry.
