I’m on the consulting side (FDD) and I’m curious if there are PE firms with good WLB. I’m happy with my pay, growth, and hours. PE interests me but I don’t understand why anyone would want to consistently work 65+ hours a week every week. What’s the appeal? Making double the pay? What’s the exit plan?

I quit my previous job approximately 5-6 months ago due to toxic culture and being pressured to commit fraud… I fear hiring managers see that I’ve been out of work for this time and may assume I was fired or laid off. The unhealthiest part of public accounting is the never-ending pissing contest over who works the most hours...shouldn't it be the opposite?

For staff/seniors in public accounting. Would you rather be paid 1 1/2 for your tax season overtime hours or would you prefer to wait for a big fat bonus check at the end of the company year? I heard KMPG paid overtime at 1.5 back in the day when the others didn't. I am sure they have now cut that out though.

I feel that I am the only person on the team that gives a damn. Everybody else seems to don't care. Funny thing is, I am leaving next week. So good luck to you all! ✌🏻️

My job (no longer a senior accountant) is high volume and fast paced. I’m getting on average 50 emails a day with at least half of those containing action items, in addition to the high volume of work I have on a daily basis. I am a CPA, have worked in audit and was briefly in industry and this is absolutely destroying my mental health. I need something a lot more laid back—I’m not afraid of hard work but this is too much. Please leave suggestions, I’m terrified of what this will do to me.
