I think it’s pretty solid overall. I think the medical is good, and the high deductible option gives you 1000 firm contributed dollars toward your HSA. I don’t know much about out of network coverage since I always try to stay in network. My guess is the out of network fees would be quite unkind, but I think that’s many plans. Also, with the high deductible plan, the first $3000 of coverage is on you anyway (but with very low premiums - I think only $35 per pay period, or $70 a month). And I think managers get 30 days off and seniors get 25, which I’m also quite pleased with. Dental is also cheap and a good plan (I think $22 per pay period for $1500 worth of coverage for the year, including two free cleanings each year. No deductible on the cleanings). And I think there’s also some small life insurance benefit as well that you don’t need to pay for - you only need to opt in and you get like $50k or so worth of coverage.
we also have 37.5hr work weeks during off season
Most (if not all) of the medical is through Aetna so I’ve never had an out of network issue (this may be different depending on where you are in the US). I also go for the high deductible plan and think the price is good and the firms contribution is fair. Mgrs get a ton of PTO but tbh it is tough to use it all in a year considering busy season and only 2 weeks (if 5) can be carried forward. Also, our PTO is your sick leave as well. In 8 years I’ve never been close to running out of PTO but something to keep in mind. The firm is now closing the week of 7/4 and Thanksgiving which is great (I think having everyone off def helps us actually stop working) but this is also making it harder to use all of your PTO with workloads. Our 401k is pretty dismal IMO our match is pretty low. Parental benefits have been expanded in the last year as well and there are also fertility benefits (I don’t have any experience with either). Overall I don’t have many complaints beyond it’s tough to use all of your PTO (not because it won’t be approved but more so bc of all the stuff you still have to figure out how to get done).
Thanks! So is there out of network coverage on the HDHP, and is the deductible combined with in network? How much is family plan? Is there a maximum on fertility and can it be used for adoption?
The benefits are probably pretty good in comparison to other similar firms, but it is the worst insurance I have ever had. I pay more for less. Aetna doesn’t cover as much as far as physical therapy, even when there is valid need and prescriptions. Covers less chiropractor, covers less therapy. It is only good if you are healthy and don’t see specialists.
Dental and vision are comparable to other policies I have had.
Expense reimbursement is dismal
I stay for the PTO and flexible work schedule
