Have been in that boat a couple times, it is awful. I’m sorry. Is there anyone willing to help during the day? It’s tough with a possible exposure. Are you able to take a couple days off during the 2 weeks? Can you reset expectations with your teams based on your new circumstances? This is a time for empathy and understanding. I hope you get some.

I feel you. My folks are also in FL (I’m NJ). The support systems fall apart like a jenga tower at the slightest move. Perhaps the toughest part about this pandemic. I’ve dealt with loss from the virus but the crippling exhaustion is up there man.

If you have a partner, make sure their are equally worried and involved on what this entails. Childcare is a full-time job itself! Do not put it all on you. It’s a lot! Talking from the experience. And yes, inform your team and set up expectations.

My (then) 5 year old got covid from another child in her pre-K class at her daycare, in June 2020. It sucks to say the least, but luckily she never spread it to us (and I took little precautions, she slept in our bed — because I was very worried). We quarantined immediately and about 5 days after exposure she got sick. My heart goes out to you. 💙

Been there a few times this year, it’s always stressful and I’m sorry you’re feeling that stress right now! If you live in the US, your employers might have government protected time off allowances for school/daycare closures. Ask your employers to see if this is still active (it might have expired at end of December 2020). You can also try FMLA.

How sympathetic is your team/ management?

Hello anyone reading this! I wanted to ask for any realistic, recommended job positions from someone with more knowledge and experience. I am graduating this December with my BBA and am ready to leave the job I’m in now. I’ve been applying for a range of positions I qualify for and nothing so far, which I expected. I have 3 years of experience in management operations but also have 6 years of experience with child care, is that why I may be getting rejected? Maybe I’m overthinking my resume? 😅

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

1YOE medical device NPI Lead looking for salary perspective

Mechanical engineering grad, joined a medical device startup that I had done co-ops at. 8mo into full-time, pivoted from engineering into more of an operations role doing new product introduction (NPI), now with 3 direct reports.

The combination of startup+medical device+NPI seems very unique and I'm struggling to find salary comparables. Currently making 75k but it feels very low given my new responsibility and impact. Any advice?

So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. I am reaaaally struggling to get a sense of belonging here. What should I expect?? Tia
