Not really, is that something that you're being asked to do at your workplace?
Yes, but only because I'm asked to fulfill all sorts of roles around here, not so much because it's part of the job description of being a community manager
Nope, pretty much just communications, PR, and developing our social media strategy
No, it's not part of my job, but I had done it in the past when the company was starting up, and I had to fulfill several roles.
No, but if people interested in buying products usually arrive, I ask for their contact information or direct them directly to the online sales managers.
It is something common in startups, but you can not allow it for the simple fact that your job description has beginnings and limits of responsibilities, so you should not go beyond that, I say this to take care if for some reason you make a mistake will be your fault, but it is something that is not your job.
I think that the only way that I accept to also take care of sales in a startup is that I have direct participation in the company, otherwise no, it is not appropriate, it is not professional and it is not my job.
Yes, when I worked with my first startups in my beginnings as a community manager, that happened to me, I also worked as a seller, at one point I started having problems because the sellers earned by commission but in my case, there were no commissions. I decided to demand commissions and they refused to pay me because I had to be unidirectional with my work as a community manager, since then I only directed those interested to the sales department.
Thankfully no, I pass off all sales enquiries to the sales team.
