When we still had offices, I would close the door, start the pump and do conference calls. Mama multitasker.
Never forget to milk it. That's the most important part.
You never know if this will be your only baby. I carried a pump backpack walking to work each way for 30 minutes and somehow became earth mama -- and nursed and pumped for two years without intending to at the onset.
It's a special time in a woman's life (not the pumping!) but to have a new little one.
What you're doing is incredibly important. The US is so behind in parenting and providing time for new parents to be with their babies compared with many countries in Europe. Lactation rooms don't exist in offices there because those moms STAY with their babies for more than for weeks after they're born -- what a concept!
Since we're not provided that privilege in the US, be sure to do all that you need to do to take care of yourself and your new baby. Eat! Pumping is hard work, and all those nutrients pass to your baby! Relax and give yourself the time you need now. Getting away from those 20 people is just what you need so you can focus on your one little, special person.
At my agency we have a special room for nursing mothers. Do ya thang for ya baby! :)
