Curious that under DS/AI/Analytics domain, what are some of the roles that are client facing but also you get to utilize your ML knowledge and analytics skills a lot? I would like a data scientist role but I don’t think I have that brain or passion to be a hard core engineer that only do the backend stuff. I’d still like to talk to client, meet more people on my day to day role.

Realistically, very few consultants sell anything that requires with actual statistics knowledge. What you will come to find is that statistics/ML analysis is super easy and so well documented literally anyone with an IQ over 100 could apply them. The REALLY hard part is getting clients data into a state where these analyses can actually mean something. 99.9% of the time, clients data storage is in such disarray the projects devolve into helping them with data management and governance lol.

Job title names aren’t super standardized. At KPMG, the role is Data & Analytics Consultant. At ZS, the role is Decision Analytics (Associate / Associate Consultant /…). Analytics may be a common term across postings.

Interesting! What do AI strategist do? Any chance that being a PM or Data Science consultant help with the process of transitioning into AI strategist?

You would still consider as "fluffy" consultant not data scientist. What skill and value can you deliver as data scientist without AI/ML knowledge

Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Anyone know of an alternative to StackOverflow for asking tech questions? The community is super toxic and I'm looking for a place I can casually ask questions that might seem dumb without being hrangued for not providing an essay proof of the research I've already done. Or some sort of buddy system where I can ping a person of relevant experience those questions.
