Wouldn’t waste my time at a tier 2 company. Directly apply for a top tier #MBBO company like Oliver Wyman. ;-)
you mean #BOMB haha
I think consistency (and a promotion!) looks better on a resume that firm hopping. I’d suggest if you don’t get a MBB offer this cycle, stick it out, get a promotion in and then try again.
Agree with this
I don’t think we recruit from Accenture
Were you in management consulting or strategy?
Ex ACN Strat here. I don't think the tenure overall matters as you'd still be gaining YOE even if you switch to other firms. These would be my considerations:
1. Time to promotion in ACN (consuultant role looks better and you may/may not be down leveled to MBB)
2. Compensation - other firms (even T2) pay better than acn strat. Even if you don't get into MBB, the comp progression is much faster at T2
Yes - switch
Yes make the switch. We're not up there in strategy
A1 very good point
If you have more than one more year of consulting in you then yes
If you want to get promoted and leave no
I worked at ACN Strategy. The caliber / expectation are way higher here and you will do real strategy work. You can always go back to ACN later.
Expect to take a step back even after a promotion at Accenture if you go to MBB (did the same)
This applies to all levels, I was a senior associate (I think that’s not a role typically in NA)
Thanks so much everyone! Alot of food for thought- leaning towards sticking it out at Accenture Strategy if MBB doesn't work out this round and reapplying after a hopeful promotion next year
