I donât even know what you mean by strategic partnerships...what do you mean?
B2B partnerships, Brand Partnerships. Basically sales but with other companies interested in working out a deal with your company on an initiative
do u enjoy sales? the quota? the pressure? the hunter mentality? start from 0 every month?
Now I get what youâre talking about OP. I donât think those roles really exist without sales targets.
OP, maybe you can start by looking to stretch your existing role and at least start to bridge it to where you'd want to go. What I mean is: 1. Map out how your role is touching the sales organization, 2. Network/ ask about their sales initiatives regarding upselling and/or cross selling ops, and esp cross-channel partnerships (i.e. referrals), 3. If you don't already, ask if you could sit in on client facing meetings so you can more deeply understand their priorities. My guess is that: 1. Your existing employer will be impressed (if you're politically astute, which you'd need to be in strategic partnership roles), and/or 2. Your perspective employer would love to see your proactive strategic approach, as well as all lessons learned / skills applied.
Are you generally good at networking and finding opportunities?
Then go for it!!
To answer your last question, i went through my own mini crisis about career aspirations and I had to sit myself down and really figure out if i was looking for a better âfitâ with my career aspirations or leaving because i wasnât performing well. I made a promise to myself to start job hunting only after being recognized as a high performer and suddenly everything magically worked out.
My advice to you is leave while youâre excelling, not when youâve convinced yourself that you would try harder if you enjoyed the work more.
