Currently interviewing for a director of finance role (2nd guy to the cfo) role at a PE backed company. No direct reports and need to build the finance function.

I have been out of work for the past 6 months, and have flooded many email boxes - applied to more than 600 job posts, have been getting a call for an interview, but after my first call with the HR, recruiter or even hiring manager, I don't seem to get past that stage! Any advice on how to get past this?

My psychiatrist today revealed to me that I may have ADHD, still a hypothesis that he is still exploring but from my personal experiences and discussions with therapist, it seems likely.

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I do struggle to keep focus and generally take a bit longer to finish them, specifically the structuring of the case. Does anybody else feel the same way and any recommendations to overcome this?

Specifically the quantitative part…did not do very well in my recent coaching session on the quant question.

I accepted an offer I’m not 100% sure about but want to work internally instead of on client work. Is consulting a safe backup if I want to return? I’m a bit older (mid 40s) and with ageism in tech, I worry if I don’t like this role, I won’t have options there. How do I stay attractive to consulting firms? I work in product design and spent last 5 years in consulting.
