Meh - happens to almost every manager. Just make sure to get someone else in place as an unofficial mentor if you can in case you do leave to ease the transition. For example, encourage a relationship between the new hire and an existing high performer so that they have someone to help them once you dip
Should it be a red flag for a new hire if this is the case and the people you're learning their pieces from are leaving and there's really no one else on your direct team except someone much higher up? My gut is telling me something isn't right.
I'm new and I have a gut feeling there's something going on in the org since there seems to be a lot of internal movement/ppl leaving during my limited time here.
I had to interview and hire someone after I had already given my notice. I felt bad, but didn’t really have any alternate options. I believe the incoming hire was still appreciative for the opportunity.
My manager did that at IBM. He didn't even tell me he was leaving, I heard it elsewhere. I had only been there a few months.
I'm going through this now at my brand new job but my supervisor hasn't even told me yet themselves. Someone else let it slip. Makes me a bit nervous cuz I have no one else to go to.
