Deloitte has removed the vaccine requirement to enter the office, but there are still many Deloitte employees who are unvaccinated. Is anyone concerned that we have let these people win? Does anyone feel like we are caving in to the people who refused to comply? Doesn’t this send the wrong message? If they know they can just wait it out, won’t they be incentivized to do that again when the next pandemic comes?

“Let these people win”

Way to expose it’s always been about control and not muh science.

Is this satire? Tell me you’re a liberal without telling me your a liberal.

“Let these people win?” What a joke.

Their personal health decisions are none of your damn business.

Good for Deloitte. Whatever the vaccine is, you get it to protect yourself, not others. Having a vaccine against a virus does not prevent you from getting said virus, and therefore does not prevent you from spreading said virus. Let others do what they feel is best for them, and move on!

"Let these people win?" You cannot be serious . . .

Other firms have done the same thing. Yes. I am concerned and as a result will not be making unnecessary trips to the office and surely won’t be working there. Fortunately my job is remote so it’s not a big issue but for those who have to be there, yes you should be very concerned if there is a good size crowd that in there

The goal is to get a majority number of people vaccinated to stop major spread of covid so we can eventually get it managed like the flu and to not over flood our health care system. The few that are left are not major a problem . Esp bc the first n second vaccination does not cover the covid variants that are circulating now. Which means even fully vaccinated people can still catch n spread covid. So it does not make that much of difference. Just wear a mask if your highly concerned.

like

Wait covid is still a thing?

like

It shouldn’t be about who “wins” it should be about the facts. The facts are that vaccinated and unvaccinated people both can catch and spread it so theres no reason to restrict un-vaccinated people from coming into the office.

like

Refuse to comply? Is this Germany 1939? How many shots and boosters must one take to be safe and still be susceptible to get the virus??? If you have major comorbidities then you should make the call for yourself. If not, I am perfectly healthy, got it and recovered with one NP visit

like

Public health is not a team sport. The images you have in your mind of the vaccinated and unvaccinated winning or losing is a tell that you have not thoroughly considered the complexities of these decisions or the humanity of the people making them.

We all have the right to make our own medical risk assessments based on our personal doctors' advice, our unique medical history, and the data/research available. Health is not a one size fits all game, and no single product or treatment will work for everyone. I have people in my life whom I respect making informed decisions in both directions on this issue, because their circumstances are all different. If people make health choices based on rallying behind a political group or ideology, that's their own problem.

public health is not a sport but it is a team activity as we are all in it together and it affects all of us

"Caving in to people who don't comply"
Don't comply? I suggest a change in your language because it reminds me of pretty shady political leaders of our past.

Wait until that shady government agenda is asking you to do something that goes against your beliefs and rights. It starts here, little by little we have less rights everyday.

Are we a group of "compliers" or are we free people?

Policy makers everyday are more and more becoming for themselves and not the people, then demonize the only ones who still believe in the right to choose what they want done to their own body.

Refused to comply....hahaha....Orwellian are we...lol

“these people” , OP, that perspective is the problem 😂

Let’s be fair. Taking a vaccine is a personal choice and pandemics are once every 100 years. Anyone can get Covid regardless of having had a vaccine. Additionally, not everyone is at risk. For at least Americans, I would argue that everyone must choose for themselves.

Too many people are dead to say that there is “winning” or “losing”. Let’s be kind to each other instead.

Your language says it all. "Let these people win" confirms the thoughts of many: That this was never about a passionate belief in one argument or another, but about wanting a victory for "your side".

Everyone in this country is so up in arms about the (buzzword time!) "division" in this country, then barely skip a beat on their way to furthering the divide. Planting your heels and taking a "My way or the highway" attitude on ANY stance, be it abortion, gun control, or yes, the covid vaccine, is a fool's position which only sets you up for disappointment. You can not expect everyone to have the same views as you. It is literally never going to happen.

like

Good happy they did, if your moronic self actually believes these vaccines reduce spread then you’re the problem not the unvaccinated.

Ironically many antivax people probably more informed than nor. Do you have kids sd1? My faith in vaccines completely gone as a consequence of the rush of covid shots. Do you realize that in most cases testing was isolated and didn't consider toxicology of multiple shots, eg getting hep b, dtap and one other as normal during early years. Further, post vaccine surveillance in many tests was very limited, just like covid. We don't know the long term on covid shots yet, and won't for another 3 years for mid term. Over 5 for long term, but worse, all the people from original test cells now vaccinated so zero way to tell test vs control.

I’m 23 and independent. Working full time and studying full time is taking a serious toll on my mental health. I’m always tired, unmotivated, depressed, sometimes angry at my life, and I don’t know what to do. I’m in my sophomore year. I also don’t work in the field that I’m studying (computer science) because I’m always rejected without an interview, which is another aggravating factor for me. It’s hard to have time to work on personal projects to make my portfolio more attractive.

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How to leverage personal connections for personal gain?

I am a 2nd year and my spouse is a higher up in engineering in big tech. He has some (but not a lot of) sway in outside counsel and could make some intros to in house counsel.

My firm will gladly use my connections for their own gain, so I’m making sure that if/when this situation comes, I take full advantage of it.

Looking for tips on short term and long term strategy.
