It's actually an incredibly generous benefit. I just read it and was surprised, PTO continues to accumulate, full pay and benefits and you can use it for siblings, parents, significant other, etc.
Utilization is also not affected.
I can't tell you what a game changer this would have been when I had to take care of my terminally ill mother my first year out of college. I'm 30 and still having to compensate for that decision and I truly didn't have any other choice than to step out of the work force. Had I had an employer like Deloitte then, it would have made a world of difference. And people say that having women in leadership doesn't change anything!
Ok also, so maybe I should read more first. But on the PDM thing - (former deloitte here) I'm sorry, not having to do anything but client work is a huge benefit. It's like being a subcontractor. Better paid than federal employees for the same hours and better benefits already???
A5- not necessarily. PDM people often work 12+ hour days. They can overburden you with work. You're often doing the same work as other co-workers but for less money and fewer benefits. You're cut out of all firm bonding despite working in the same office so people feel very excluded. It's like being a guest at your own office and having everyone look down at you, but for no reason.
This is fantastic!
So if my utilization is low then can I still avail the 16 weeks? I am a soon to be father. And this is milestone year too. Any thoughts on how this will affect ?
This is good benefit as long as you forget about your bonus or promotion for that year. This is old practice in countries like India where you will not get any good rating if you are on maternity leave. Only change is now its extended to paternity leave
Paid family leave for this long is rare in the States. If you can get a bonus and promotion post-baby, that matters a lot because that is the issue that most women face. They have to leave the work force because they can't take leave for long enough and then can only break back in on an undesirable track with fewer opportunities.
What the hell??? For real??? This is amazing!!!
And we at accenture 2 weeks. Awesome!
All part of the big 4 pissing contest
Haha isn't that call health insurance?
Where do you see this?
D6 for reals? Another reason to not want the promotion.
Too bad I'm done having kids...
@D4 another reason to leave :/
D6- are you Federal? This really ruins a happy moment.
Whaaaaat!!! When did this happen?
@manager2 project delivery model, it's a new career track they started where we don't have to do firm initiatives and are solely client focused.
Time to make the second kid.
Welcome to the brighter side folks!
So I am fully supportive and applaud deloitte's efforts to support a family (and I worked for them for 7 years) but, shouldn't women still have more time off given the actual recovery from child birth and requirements of feeding? I'm asking for honest opinions not to creat drama. For context- I am 35 yr old women and probably destined to be a DINK or an adoptive parent, unless birth control fails. So have no stake in the game
