Start looking at a National Office tax team at your firm. This will help the transition, a lot. Likely want an LLM from a top school to jump. Big Law is a lot about how you look on paper, much more so than Big 4

The former big 4 legal lead in the UK got herself into Fragomen. Good example

If you were laid off or fired would you apply for your current job? I was laid off from Big 4 audit in 2016 after working there for 2 years and it was one of the best things to happen to me. 1. It allowed me to reflect and decide what was important in my next career. 2. Losing a job isn’t as frightening as it seems. 3. Accountants have major job security as I got a job offer within 2 weeks. When you’re miserable at work ask yourself would you apply for your current job?

I’ve applied to all the B4/midsize/regional firms for tax staff/intern and was not even able to get a single interview. Graduated last year w/. 150 credits, 3.65 GPA, CPA in progress, under a year of relevant work experience/volunteer activity. Rehearsed my resume many times and wasn’t even given a chance. Is there is something wrong with me?

Busy season doesn't really feel like it used to be anymore. I think before, it was generally understood it would take half of the time of the year, but now it feels like it covers 70 to 90% of the year. I would love to hear if this is the feeling from people who work at big 4, mid tier/regional and small boutique cpa firms?
