I took a ~7k annual pay cut which ends up being a $300/paycheck deduction after taxes. Left public for a fully remote role and a step down in title. Work like 2-3 hours a day, chill goldmine, industry accounting job.
I have no desire to move up the ladder and can now have hobbies and focus on passions/things I care about. I feel significantly overpaid for the work I do. You just have to try it and see. Was not expecting this job to be this good
No, applied through LinkedIn

No, 30% and 50% raise in my last 2 moves.
I'm going to be taking a 10% cut soon to be working a job that gets me outdoors every day. Less money but improved quality of life :)
Not sure what there is to explain, I don't like accounting and Im going to start doing something in a different field
I have done it in the past and will most likely do it next year to go to another branch of accounting. Currently in fund accounting, pay is good but the job makes me miserable. If it wasn't this repetitive I would stay because you can definitely make a ton of money if you continue going up the ladder but I don't see myself doing this for 25 more years. Hell no.
Try going in house to a fund.
All my fund accounting buddies are happier when they left third party administrators
I took a pay cut once and really regretted it. Another time I took a lateral job that kept me at the same pay and it really worked out for me. I’ve gotten steady increases there and it has been a 31% increase since I started working here in late 2021. Granted there was a promo to M and inflation adjustments but it’s been life changing.
It can go either way.
Nope, Mine was just about even salary-wise, but the benefits weren't quite as good. You definitely shouldn't feel like you need to take a pay cut, but willing to take one obviously opens up more doors for what you can do next.
I took a small dip in salary but a bonus (in writing) that brought me to where i was in my previous role.
Don’t take a pay cut when you move. These days the only way to get decent raises is from moving companies/jobs!
I took a pay cut one time in my career I was switching from a bank operations role to go be a staff accountant in public accounting.
I was a single no kid 26 years old and took a 20% pay cut which was 15k at the time. I’d say I slightly regret it. I’m extremely happy with the role and salary I have now, but that took a solid 5 years of grinding , job hopping etc the role I have now.
As a 32 year old with a mortgage I’ll never do it again - take a pay cut of any kind :)
Misery pain and stress that's what you can expect..
