I'm not quite sure how much longer programmers and analyst will be needed in a yr or 2. I use o4 right now to teach and write code for me and my company. I've tried a few others in the past and their not as good and it will only get better. Consulting will be the only job to have in the not to far future to help companies set up corporate AI systems. Hopefully I will have enough of the skills gained from doing it myself for my company which is still a startup and most of the startups I've communicated with have someone on board that is doing it ahead of time. That may be a saving grace to current programmers if they don't mind getting paid much, if anything Besides equity.
This is a fair point but I think it comes down to liability. If a software engineer makes a mistake, there is an owner and to face the consequences, what happens when AI does something wrong?
