Some do but in the climate right now I’m only hearing about that with talent that is very coveted or highly sought. I also see that happening when folks bring high dollar accounts with them. That part can get real sticky real fast though.
Why sticky with client poaching?
Speaking from experience, yes.
I was corporate, mid-level, one of the large 3 agencies
It’s not a great climate for it now, but yes, and it’s more likely the more senior you are
My last two agencies, one large and one mid size, gave a signing bonus.
It’s always worth asking, outlining what you’re giving up and asking for what the agency can do. They don’t need to know about any toxicity you’re escaping. I’ve gotten some good upfront compensation this way.
Never hurts to ask - no one else is going to better advocate for what you bring to the table!
Yes but last one I had was 2001 🤩😏🥴😳
My agency used to give signing bonuses and a moving stipend to entry level employees. Until one, in her exit interview, said it was manipulative and misleading. Why her manager asked.
Because the signing bonus was TAXED and moving stipend had to be paid back if candidate left before 12mo anniversary.
I have never been manipulated thusly but would have ehm, kind of valued those toxic perks when I was 22…
Not sure about what’s realistic in this economy but when I got my offer two years ago, my salary expectations were above the band for the level and I was offered a signing bonus to match that.
100% yes.
Everything is on the table. It depends, of course, on the agency, but I would shoot for the stars and see what you can land.
Got one for my current gig.
If helpful, the situation was that I wanted them to match my salary at my last place but the band stopped 5k short. So they decided on a 5k signing bonus to get me to the same level, at least for this year.
