I believe it’s up to the individual to set boundaries for themselves. The organization is going to take as much as they can get.
Setting boundaries only works when those boundaries are respected. If you try to take time for yourself whether it’s a medical appointment or a day off and you are told no, what then?
I could be generalizing here, but agency marketing is typically pretty grueling. Granted, at my agency, they do a good job of balancing. For us that looks like our busy season might require crazy, long work days and weekends for a few months. But in the off-season, that’s made up for by allowing us to log off early as we please if our work is done.
Also, have to agree with the other comment re: boundaries. The nature of agency work is typically that there’s always something to do. So learning to set boundaries and be okay logging off is crucial.
