Worst bosses. And why. Go 👇
Hi, I am new to Canada and currently living in Vancouver, BC. I was looking for opportunities in the Financial Services industry in the Metro Vancouver Area. I have about 3 years of experience in the Banking/Financial Services and HealthTech industry and worked alongside IBM and PwC in developing and implementing cutting-edge FinTech products for business clients of a Financial Institution and led the Finance and data science team at a Health tech startup. Let me know if anyone can help me.

I’ve worked at great agencies but I don’t regret it for a single day. The in house benefits are allowing me to have children and actually live my life
Yes but strictly because I’m now making bad work and am generally bored.
I toy with the idea of going back and then get sad because:
1) agency won’t pay me what I make right now
2) my health insurance is so much better now and doesn’t cost me a cent
3) I don’t have to work nights or weekends or plan my life around production schedules
4) I get a bonus and equity!
In house has more opportunity because it’s growing so fast. Companies that never had in house creative teams are building them. Once you stop thinking that agencies are the only places you can make great creative work, you’ll be better off. So much more time for side passion projects where can actually make a name for yourself beyond the advertising award shows.
No
Not for a minute, the nice thing is - agency side will ALWAYS be there if you want to go back.
Nope!!
Not for a minute.
Nope. I get to have a broader sense of the marketing efforts, and my team is very supportive of my suggestions.
I made the leap from agency to client side and don’t regret it bc I learned A LOT - but I discovered that I by far prefer agency life and work, so after 5 years I went back to agency. That was years ago. No regrets planting my feet firmly on the agency side.
Regret, no. Miss, yes.
I regret not fully entering agency life 😂
hell no lol.
Nope.
Absolutely not, especially now that I have a kid and am still remote while all my agency friends nearby have had to go back to the office. And my pay is so much better.
I do sometimes miss aspects, but no regrets.
I’ve only worked agency side and have thought about going brand side while looking for a new job the past month. I totally agree agency life is draining but you learn so much and while I’m young I think I’ll stay on this side. It’s nice to see others are happy that they left, gives me hope for the future.
I worked agency side for ten years in the tech industry. Our creativity was always overruled by budget. ‘Be creative! Think out of the box, we want your big ideas’… we’d pitch, spend weeks working on concepts and visuals, only to be told we are too expensive (we were not an expensive agency compared to a lot!). Even the pitches we won, 9 times out of 10 creative would get pulled because their budgets had been cut. It’s soul destroying and my only regret is that I’d wish I’d gone client side sooner. Much better work life balance, pay and appreciation for what you do.
From acct mgmt side - NO.
NOPE!
