I finally believe that our kids, for the most part, are getting mental health support. We almost have a social worker in every school and psychs are down to 2 schools each. We can’t find psychologists 😬
This is a post pandemic shift in our district. We went from 8 social workers to 25.
I’m an curious to what other schools have.
Our district added a second counselor to each school this year. Hopefully this helps. Our psych numbers have stayed the same - three serving two schools each. (Our district is small.) 😊
We have a district licensed clinical psychologist, a licensed clinical school psychologist, and 3 pretty good counselors. But even with all that, I don’t know that we have enough. There are a lot of students that fall through the cracks.
Nope. Not even close. The only schools getting close are alt ed programs that have licensed clinicians with a 1:10 ratio. School counselors have no mental health training. It’s a joke.
We have a fantastic counselor, and a fabulous, if overworked, social worker. Kids are seen as soon as an issue arises. SW is empowered to help solve many issues.
