Do you get a client laptop to work on? If so, what industry is your project in? Curious to know if every consultant gets client laptops or only certain industries/project types...

Not all consultants receive a laptop, and it’s not determined by industry or project type. In my experience, it depends on the client’s security restrictions and network compliance requirements.

like

Staff aug work will typically issue you a laptop. There’s a saying that getting a client laptop is a sign of a bad project.

I dont necessarily agree but I can see where it comes from.

Depends on client and type of access you need

like

Depends on the project, I do a lot of tech work so I need privileged access which usually involves at the very least a VDI and on rare occasion a laptop. I usually go out of my way to try and work out other options before the laptop.

like

This is extremely common in the tech industry, especially among online platforms.

I have, depending on the project, but I wouldn't say it's been required for most projects.

Depends on the client and engagement. It used to be more common but nowadays most are content with a VPN.

Hi Folks,

Did anybody in CTS land in Canada with a work permit raised from the project ?

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Hello Everyone,

I am in search of a Project Manager role. I have about 4 + years experience managing projects and in consulting.

I am about concluding the google certificate in project management, and one unique think I bring into any team is my strategic thinking and ability to solve problems in record time.

I am based in Canada and a remote role will be great.

I anticipate your responses and recommendations thank you very much.
