Most of the responses here are totally inaccurate. Do a google of your state’s laws / check your state’s unemployment website FAQ section.
Check your state labor law. Not always. Depends on reason your employer files under. If fired for misconduct or something, you don't get unemployment always. Not the same as getting laid off. Again, check law for your state by googling :-)
Yes
Possibly. Apply anyway.
Sure do. Unless you commit a crime.
File and say you got laid off. HR depts generally won’t challenge
No in California if it was because of something you did. And no if you quit. Yes if you were laid off.
Unless the law's changed, in Illinois your employer can challenge your unemployment claim if you were fired for cause (as opposed to "having your position eliminated", or being laid off). They often don't challenge, but I did work for one small business who challenged once, and decided to let it go in another case.
Similar to all the other answers... it depends on what state you’re in. If you were fired for cause or you quit, you usually do not get unemployment. If you were laid off or fired without cause, you can collect. At least in Illinois.
Nah cuz I own a business. 350 a week won’t cover my bills though
Most likely. Depends on a few factors. Were you an employee or a freelancer? Did you get fired for cause or was it a layoff? I would file and see what happens. Typically when you are fired, HR will let you know at that time, especially if you are working for a larger company
