Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
History of BCG layoffs anyone?

Hello Verizon fellows, In Deloitte, there's a facility to claim a certain reimbursement for purchasing mobile devices through their portal or something. Similarly, do VDSI employees have any discounts or reimbursement for purchasing devices through Verizon? If so, kindly let me know how to check it out. Thanks in advance.
I’m sick of living in NYC but can’t go anywhere.
Sorry, can't help it

I'm secretly hoping I get fired so I can go do something worthwhile
Would love to get fired so I can collect . Haha just kidding.....
Do you get negative reviews, or just worry about them? I worry about it all the time and yet I have never had a bad review. My imposter syndrome kicks and in the spiraling starts. I figure people think I’m a fraud, a fake, that I’m useless, and they’ll fire my idiot self any minute. Then I’ll not be able to afford the mortgage, will lose my house, my wife and kid will move on and leave me etc. etc. etc. When it’s really bad, I’ll go all the way to thinking I’m months away from being homeless under a bridge. Unfortunately, I don’t have a good answer on how to deal with it. I’ve been working so long, you’d have thought experience would’ve beaten this but I probably need therapy to work on this. In the meantime, talking it through with my wife helps, she brings the logic to my self-created crisis.
Definitely bring it up with your therapist. Good luck, OP, and keep me posted!

My usual go to phrase is “What are they gonna do, fire me?” I know they won’t because the delta between what I make and what I bill every year is criminal. I take my chances where I can with this in mind

I have had that feeling all life.
Feeling of failing, negative results, not telling people till achieved to avoid getting jinxed.
Although life has kept going on, but definitely a consequence of overthinking.

Any thoughts where the fear comes from?
Have their been firings of your peers? Was there mention of performance layoffs?
Did this fear recently emerge? Or something you always had?
I had that fear early on in pandemic when there was a lot of uncertainty but not at is point as rumors within my firm have gone away and addressed by leadership
Hmm I was laid off in 08 as well. I just switched jobs and a few months later laid off. Fortunately I was able to get another job very quickly and even more luckily it was a higher paying job. So I made 2 jumps within 5 months.
For me that was likely the reason why 08 recession didn't have as much impact to me, but that makes sense and definitely could link to anxiety.
