Swore to never date another banker after a bad breakup, ended up married to another finance person. As tough as NYC dating can be, why rule out whole groups of people, especially generally smart, motivated ones?
I prefer to date someone who is in finance or a lawyer or some other professional with crazy hours. They're the only ones who understand when I cancel at the last minute or I'm constantly on my email during dinner.
I dated and married outside. No reason for two people to be miserable.
Luckily there aren't any women in SF so this isn't an issue
Female's perspective: in a relationship with another banker. We are both very happy about it and very supportive of each other's career. I do think bankers have a higher tolerance to powerful women.
In the same boat as @GS1. We just make it a point to not talk work in the evenings. Once you do that you're with someone else smart, witty, and that gets what you're going through.
24/M/NYC. Dating someone outside finance. I like having the link to something different. I get enough finance people at work.
I have no preference other than that I don't really click with artsy gals. But, it really is nice not having to hassle over convincing your significant other every other day.
Dated inside and outside of industry. Connect w lawyers more than MD physicians. Gotta be someone who understands the life..easier if they live it in their own right..
Agree with all of you guys and gals. But some senior bankers here are married to teachers and professors. It seems like a smart move considering that their wives can spend more time with the kids and have more flex schedules. If you think long term two parents with demanding careers would be hard for the kids involved.
Dating a medical resident. They get the deal. I do like having my partner be outside of finance tho.
Just be open to all careers and backgrounds. I feel like both bankers can possibly be boring and you'll end up talking abt is work lol
Dated mostly guys in finance. Common ground and we get each other's lifestyle, hours, etc. Plus it's fun to have a little competition ha
Lol @jpmc2
@HSBC1 There was an article on Bloomberg about this. Difference between genders is pretty interesting: bloomberg.com/graphics/2016-who-marries-whom/
@hsbc1, yes and the reverse is also true. I've seen a lot of female MDs/partners who have house husbands that are in something creative.
