I keep a running list here. LMK if you have any I should add:

This I like.
What made me stand out to you as a candidate?
What do you think makes me a good candidate to work for/with you?
Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications?
This is all psychology - you want people saying nice things about you. We are hardwired to help our fellow humans - if you can get people to think positively of you, you WILL get a follow up call.
Oh my other favorite - what keeps you up at night and how could I help address that?
Where do YOU see me in five years?
Hot damnnn!
I like to ask if they have done anything that isn’t on their resume but would like me to know about, especially if they think it could help them in this position or if it’s just something to help me know them better in general

Added! DM me if you’d like me to credit you by name.

I like to ask what they don’t like about the place.

I like saying “what do you hate about your job” because it catches people off base and in my experience leads to brutal honesty.
I ask why they’ve stayed there over time
I ask every copywriter what book they’re currently reading.
I guess my question with the podcast is whether they’re not reading because they’re commuting in a car and don’t have as much sit down time.
Now I’ve done writing and I’ve done podcasts (interviewee side) and I know those are different parts of the brain. Unless this a scripted narrative podcast.
A podcast is much like a tv show to me. I learn interesting things but written language is where wordcraft lives. Expository speaking can be but tends to not always overlap.
But we both know advertising has stupid hours and commuting home in cars is a book killer.
That’s a long answer to say: Hey, I want to talk about what you’re interested in. But I’m asking about the medium we are exploring together and that’s why I ask book.
If I’m being interviewed by someone in my team that’s one title above me I’ll ask what their aspirations and goals are in their current role and how I can help.
Reason for that is: If they progress, there’s room for me to progress too (when working in a linear hierarchy structure).
I’ll DM you 😉

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on at this agency?
i approached my interviews w my current agency from the perspective of “they’re not just trying to find out if i’m a good fit for them - they’re also trying to see if they’re a good fit for me” so i asked a lot of questions upfront like “What does it take to stand out/truly succeed in this position?” or “What kinds of people do well here?” or stuff about company culture/my future team/what a typical day would look like for this role...
Something as simple as - What do you like to do for fun?
What’s your favorite piece of creative you worked on.
Depending on size of place, I like to ask about team structure. Where and how do they see me fitting in? How does that role currently work, who do I report to, who reports to me, who am I working with on a daily basis, etc.
