I’ve never used it, it’s not an actual title or credential. You could put “Associate” in your signature block if it’s not there already there, since that is your actual position.
Otherwise, it’s only awkward for you if you let it be. With opposing counsel in particular, it’s not unheard of for that to be used as a tactic to put you on your heels. Don’t give them that satisfaction.
I do not. But I do when I appear in court via zoom. (Some are still doing this). They actually get to you first that way. Why wouldn’t you put your name and title and firm name in your email signature? That way, no one can really mistake that you’re practicing law or not. I do put esq. after my name in notice provisions in contracts though. Honestly, I don’t know why.
I don’t but I put associate underneath my name.
I put "attorney" under my name in my sig block.
If it helps, why not? My company added it to my signature line to make it clear that I am an attorney.
Thank you so much, everyone!! I’m going to put associate 😊
I put "Associate" under my name in my signature block.
I don’t because more often than not, I think Esq comes off the wrong way. I do have my credentials after my name and my title in my email signature
Name, JD

My law firm all does the Esq. after our name. Small, down to earth firm. I just got there so added it as well. I wouldn't overthink it. Some people I've heard make it weirdly taboo but, meh. (Given I also work in health law and the letters after your name become important to clients). I would say add it if other people you email with do. Otherwise just put "Associate Attorney" or the like under your name
Absolutely not. I personally think people who put it on their signature block are doing so out of insecurity, though that’s probably an unfair thing to think. 🤷🏼♂️
