Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

No, you don't, but you need to have other marketable skills to substitute for it, like coding skills and/or knowledge of data architecture.

I would add to that list - domain knowledge and non-technical skills like management.
Not entirely, but some data analytics roles certainly require more math than others. A little linear algebra and variance math go a long way. Without those things you can do a lot of dashboards and rules but hard to do proper forecasting or optimization.
No- sometimes a less technical background with strong suits in soft skills helps you stand out on a team. Problem solving, curiosity, ability to translate complex information into everyday language, and excel/viz skills can give you a robust career.
