Do you recommend M1 Finance vs Vanguard to invest for retirement, savings etc? Hear the rates are lower than Vanguard, but is that going to last a lifetime?

You have a fundamental misunderstanding. M1 is just a broker. There are no rates to use M1. You can buy vanguard funds on vanguard or M1.

Thanks. Actually since January 2020, Vanguard switched to commission free trading for all stocks and ETFs. Before that, they took a commission, when M1 Finance didn’t. My bad for looking at sources pre-2020. Am learning and new to Vanguard (recent immigrant) so trying to figure out what’s best.

I am using M1 and I do like it. The portfolio allocation function is nice. They also have pre-made portfolios that can choose from depending on your risk threshold. If you’re an active trader, it’s not for you though. I can send you my referral link if you’re going open one 😁

My 401k with my employer is through vanguard and I use M1 for my Roth and taxable investing account.

For vanguard, they are a reputable well known company. But, as large as they are, I am shocked by how lackluster their mobile app is. It looks like something out of the 2000s and I can't stand it.

M1 has a much better app but they are less well known, and if you need to contact support, you may have issues. The subreddit is filled with stories of people needing to contact support and not being able to get a hold of anyone. They recently went through a round of fundraising and they promised that they would invest in more customer support, so hopefully that gets better.

I have $100k from an annuity invested with Schwab and managed by a brokerage firm. My parents set me all up with this when I got access to the funds at age 21. So I’m not sure of the complete breakdown other than the fact that it’s diversified according to my tolerance for risk

Now, I also have $25k liquid cash I’d like to do something with. Should I just add it to the existing portfolio, or create a separate, self-managed account?

I made a mistake starting SIP in a ULIP. Used to invest 7500 per month starting from November 2018. I have discontinued my premium payments since last year. That is when my fund was moved to an interim surrender state and now it earns 4% per annum interest.

After 5 years of lock-in that is November 2023, can i withdraw the entire amount at a time? (Of course after paying surrender charges)

Its in Texas, and the initial BK filing was made about 23 months ago. TIA!

- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
