Do you tell your boss’ why/what you’re doing when you request PTO? I’m not a fan of the corporate trend of telling your managers/employer WHY you’re taking PTO, but honey, I will never participate.

My PTO plans could be taking a nap all day long. They could be traveling to another country. Both of which are solely my business.

Hey habibis expats! The market in Dubai is obscure when it comes to compensation and benefits. I suggest we add clarity by posting salaries, role/position and years of experience here and anything else you want to add such as benefits. I’ll start:

- Role: finance manager
- YOE: 5 years
- Comp: 270k aed/year + 5% bonus
- Other benefits: work from Europe/US 1 month/year, 30 vacation days

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)
