I just applied for the preferred and will be getting the 100k bonus. I have the freedom card and the Amazon chase card.
The 95$ is worth it for the travel points and travel insurance.
My SO has the sapphire reserve and it's pretty nice too.
Hey I graduated in 2020 and the CSP was my first play too - highly recommend it, especially with the 100k offer.
If you end up going consulting FT, you can always upgrade it to a CSR next year for lounge benefits and start the Amex cycle too (with Corp. card discounts!)
Worth the read about the sapphire preferred. I generally trust the points guy blog to have decent reviews on reward cards… but at the end it’s your comfort level for your budget. I have had the Sapphire Reserve for years now and it’s been worth it since I try to use all the perks like TSA, Global Entry, Door Dash, etc. I also got it well after college.

Glad it helped! It’s a really good blog to learn about spending points as well!
It's a great starter traveling card. That said, also consider luxury cards like the CSR and Amex Platinum to get credit for TSA Pre check / global entry
Keep in mind, if after 1 year you don't like the card or few it as an expense, that you can just downgrade it to the Chase Freedom and have no annual fee
Yes!!! I was just coming on here to say I think I’ll keep it a year and then downgrade to the Chase Freedom Flex or Unlimited for better multipliers
I got mine right out of college (Reserve). If you net out the cash benefits (travel $$, TSA pre covered, etc) I think it only comes out to like $100-$200 a year. And that’s if you don’t get any other benefits. Ultimately a value call to you, but I love mine.
OP asked about the preferred ($95) which is different from the reserve ($550).
It's my favorite travel card. The fee is up there but 300 back in travel credit plus door dash credit is worth it. I make more back in points than the fee itself. Before I exited to industry, I used it for all my flights and meals when travelling, it was glorious.
Assess what your budget looks like per month for dining and if you'd travel enough to get a benefit from it.
Oh my bad, I was definitely thinking of reserve lol.
If you travel a lot apart from what you do for work you can make back that $95 in no time. But if you travel only for work, most of the organizations will provide you with a corporate card to use right from day 1. So you won't accumulate any points from there
Right I definitely would be able to spend 4K so I know I’ll get the bonus but idk why the annual fee is stressing me out lol

In case you do decide to go that route:
Earn 80,000 bonus points with Chase Sapphire Preferred. Plus, earn $50 statement credit towards grocery purchases. I can be rewarded, learn more. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/m/6a/6L5/GF5V/1576233620
Hi thanks for sending. I think the online offer is actually better but I appreciate this option too :)
It’s an awesome card I’m 23 and it was my first big boy card.
Just got approved! Thanks everyone :)
