Do you're projects differ heavily depending on your office location? For example, do you see different types of work in San Fran vs Dallas vs Charlotte? Are differences primarily industry based (tech, oil, financial services)?

Yes, this can be influenced by the nature of the predominate industries around each area. For example, New York will have more financial services engagements than San Francisco or Los Angeles. But San Francisco and Los Angeles might have more IFCS projects relating to wildfires than Boston or DC.

Location of Channel 1 clients can also make a difference - for example, Bay Area teams might be more limited in what services they can offer to many large tech companies because they are already EY audit clients.

The great thing about EY Forensics is that they’re a national practice and you can theoretically be staffed on any project based out of any office! If you’re particularly interested in a specific industry that your home office doesn’t tend to work on, make that known, network with those you’d want to work with someday, and most teams are usually pretty good about keeping that in mind when opportunities arise.

Pros:

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

Cons:

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time

Hey DFW, TX folks. We're going through comp and merit raises, I suspect you all are too. This is the first year we're using pay ranges from payscale. I am completely surprised of how low compensation is in TX. For any of you that have visibility to pay ranges what is your experience with pay ranges for your company?

Additional Posts in Fraud and Forensics

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam.
