My dad's a senior software architect getting 35 lpa for 18 years work experience in cognizant. His tech stack is AEM and he has worked on angular and Java Projects as well. Since he is getting underpaid a lot ... Hopefully someone can refer him Adobe or some product companies. Even service company with good pay also is acceptable
Hi,
Is anyone facing same situation?

I'm unsure if your health condition, but FWIW I'll share mine. I'm considered "morbidly obese" at 350 lbs (though in my defense I can do a 90 min peloton ride no problem!). I've been diagnosed with severe hypertension and sleep apnea. I also smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. Mid 40s. Basically everything that puts me in the high risk category.
With that said, I've been vaccinated (Moderna) since the end of April. Over memorial day weekend I decided to go out with friends. By Thursday I tested positive for Covid. I spent the next week with more or less slightly severe cold symptoms but the cough was the worst part. Literally non stop coughing for a week.
I still wear a mask when I go out. I still only go to restaurants at odd hours to ensure fewer people. If there's a place that's jammed packed with people I don't go inside.
I wish you all the best in navigating your very valid concerns. You've got to do you and you've got to be comfortable doing it.
Thanks for sharing D1 and for understanding my concerns. This is yet again another example that shows just how great the vaccination is all while not being 100% full proof. Thankfully you were able to get through it without major symptoms or complications but still scary nonetheless.
Do what's right for you and don't listen to peer pressure. I'm in a similar situation (vaccinated but at risk for a very serious case if I do get infected), and I have already decided to continue wearing masks indoors (N95 or similar that actually protect the wearer) and working from home as much as possible whenever I have the option. I also plan to live within walking distance of my office to avoid public transit as much as possible. I know I'll get some weird looks if I show up to a meeting in a mask since my whole team is vaccinated and knows I am too, but I'd much rather get weird looks than risk my life.
Thank you for your message and words of encouragement. Definitely similar situation and it’s stressing me out thinking about it. We don’t have our return policy set in stone yet but I imagine it’ll be a few days in office per week. I’d like to limit my in office presence as much as possible especially because I know some people will be unvaccinated and likely unmasked (they will not be requiring either and everything will be based on honor system). I’m worried about the weird looks and overall perception when we head back in as well. I personally don’t want to live in a bubble and want to be a team player but I also want to be more selective with what I do and where I go. I’m hoping my client/employer will be understanding and at least somewhat accommodating.
I’m pregnant so I feel ya
Yikes! That sounds like it was messy and stressful but glad they eventually came around. I work for a small company and our clients are dictating everyone’s return policies. I’m hoping they will remain flexible but again not getting my hopes up. I’m stressed just thinking about possibly having to go through my doctor, HR, leadership, client, etc when the times comes. My feeling is we’ve been wfh for almost 1.5 years at this point and doing it just fine…
I will share — I have diabetes, and that puts me at much higher risk of having bad outcomes if I get infected with covid. I am vaccinated but I see the Delta variant spreading easily even among the vaccinated ( just saw a report on CNN saying 80 people at a summer camp in Texas got covid, including 30% of the vaccinated folks).
Not sure how to protect myself. Our firm is aggressively pushing reopening with no regard for the Delta variant or even concerns of parents who have unvaccinated children at home since no vaccine is available for them.
Agreed and same. I’m sort of at a loss on what to do as well. I was hoping to avoid going down the route of trying to get an ADA accommodation but it’s looking like it may be the best way to protect myself and to have better peace of mind. Hopefully if it comes to that, it won’t cause too much of an issue.
Yes, I have a condition and have a likelihood of having adverse affects.
I will protect myself the best way I can.

Does your condition mean you are still at severe risk of a bad outcome even with vaccination? With vaccination, my understanding is that there is still a chance to get COVID, but the risk of death or hospitalization is close to zero. The real goal of vaccination is to reduce bad outcomes not all infections from my understanding.
I appreciate your reply D1 and I do understand what you mean. I think many people have been and will remain a bit fearful for awhile as the last year+ has been unprecedented. I do think some of it remains justified though as there’s a lot we still don’t know about covid and the longer term effects.
My understanding is that my personal risk is higher now than it was before covid. Maybe they will determine later on that it poses no greater risk than the flu or other “normal” colds/viruses we know of, but for now, I’m choosing to be more cautious as there’s still a lot to learn.
In my opinion, most of us have been doing just fine with wfh and because there’s still a lot of unknowns and we’re still in a pandemic, I wish employers would continue to maximize flexibility and understand some people have different risk levels. I did my part by being vaccinated so it’s not like I’m just choosing to ignore all science but I still want to be cautious. I had an above average review this past year so I’m clearly performing well. Why force something if I’ve proven I can still perform? I’m not even saying I refuse to come into the office ever but if you’re wanting me to come in just for the sake of it, I find that to be silly.
Yes, and I am dreading going to HR at my new company as my peers and my own micro experiences have shown me that they are unlikely to have my back

Are you able to get vaccinated?
Not requiring vaccination or masks inside if vaccinated but all on honor system so don’t trust people
Relax
A1- Oh definitely. I can’t imagine being in their shoes through all of this
C1- i’m not saying I want to live in a bubble or anything. I’m just trying to limit and be more conscious about where I go and what I do. I’m thankful to have the vaccine and hopefully will be fine but if I can avoid the stress of being in an office more than I need to, it would greatly help.
