It wasn’t until reading this and thinking about it that I’ve realized, yes. I do in fact do this.
I struggle with balancing work life— I feel like I go all in on work and forget to worry about life and if I worry about life I stop caring about work…
I have this issue as well. And the biggest thing that helped me, in the beginning, was my husband. He set boundaries for me. Now I have been able to make them myself. I also changed my career to a company that promotes work life balance. And TRULY doesn't want us thinking about work when not at work.
I also stupidity my sleep habits and provided optimal nutrition, allowing me to have more time in my day to complete my commitments without quality suffering.
If you are alone, try setting a weekly schedule, where you block out time, and stick to it. At first it may be difficult, but it will be worth it in the end.
Stupid=studied, auto correct.

Not at all, i ask for appropriate accommodations to have more time to do my usual workload, i have nothing to prove to anyone
I think we have to let go about proving yourself. ‘We’ because I’m the same way. I’m also hitting my limit and it’s really affecting me. Now I’m exhausted, and can’t even muster the strength to go outside, despite it being the weekend.
Having a running list of active projects helps me keep things in perspective. If I already promised 4 difficult things, I shouldn't offer a 5th, because then I'm just asking to tank my professional reputation.
Getting good at know what it takes for YOU to deliver a given item WELL is key. Then just tell yourself that doing more is a trap.
Can't catch me! I'm going to deliver well or not promise at all.
Now if I could figure out how to apply that to friendships and my apartment...
Honestly I have done this too many times to count idk if it's my natural nature or the adhd
What have you tried previously to set boundaries?
Consistency is the hardest part when there are so many distractions. Develop the skillset of self-awareness so you have checks and balances to prevent the scale from tipping into burnout.
This means being proactive in learning to say no by rules of the boundaries you review regularly and set for yourself. Set a limit on what you can realistically expect doing without striving for 110% each day. No more than X on your plate—and know exactly what you are working on through regular self-checkins. Having adhd and making mistakes only adds to this feeling of guilt that you have to overcompensate. Leading to a cycle of more errors and bad feelings.
Equip and enable yourself by hyper focusing on solving your problem. Engage your mind in researching across the entire internet on Google for neurodiverse ways in learning to set boundaries, identify approaches to try, and utilize examples of responses to say in order to set those boundaries. Boundaries are not sources of failure. Breaching them is.
Here’s an article I found by searching “ Neurodiverse ways to set boundaries to avoid burnout”.
