Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

D1, but Spg properties suck big times when compared to Marriott properties. And Merger is happening. Marriott received a antitrust clearance from the EU to acquire Starwood 👍🏼
Due to the current promotion I'm raking in 1200 base points per week which means 600 extra because platinum, then since it's a triple up promotion I'm getting another 2400, then 500 for platinum gift and 1500 for green choice. AND then I'm getting a 3k bonus due to large project booking. So yeah about 9k/week at SPG right now. The St Regis in New York is 25k/night typically and I've booked 9k/night for ocean front rooms in Hawaii (which then get upgraded to suites). On top of that, I did my research and the 20-25k Marriotts are shitty. Good stuff happens at 30-35k. Sorry OP, but I'm getting a night per week at an even better property. Guess I will make sure to blow through all of those before 2018.
I'll take the Westin @ Tokyo, Barcelona and Lima over any Marriott. Hope the merger doesn't happen :(
SPG has a much better redemption program compared to Marriott and lot better hospitality as well.
They already decided to merge and Marriott points will come out on top.
Not sure about the conversion rate but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is Marriotts rewards program that will be adopted as a result of the merger.
How can you be so sure, D1? The acquisition looks like a done deal... Wouldn't make sense to keep separate loyalty programs once the brands merge (which seems like an eventuality at this point)
I'll take a St. Regis and/or a Luxury property over the JW Marriott/Ritz any day.
Rumor is that starpoints will convert to Marriott rewards 1:2
They will merge but not for another year or so
And the new program will be a hybrid of the two programs
Agree with D6. From what I have heard it seems like Marriott is adopting some of the spg practices (but not the best ones 😭) so hopefully it's not too much of a shock by the time it happens.
(Except at aloft. Aloft is 250). 500 Marriott points is a joke though. You can book business type hotels for as low as like 3-4K points.
There's no way they're merging. Keep earning SPG! much value for your points there

OMG, I stand up corrected. The merger is happening. Everyone save your lives!!!!!!!

2018 is coming...
Do the math... You get more stays per $ at Marriott. SPG has nicer properties, but the $ to stays ratio is the worst in the industry.
