No specifics but I know two people who worked for European offices and said it was an awful experience, starts with the fact that the firm apparently has not invested in a compare software.

ES has made significant investment over the last five years - this includes workshare compare and iManage as their document management system in the last year. That said, the US-arm of ES has its own tech stack so the actual tools may vary.

I’m in the ATL office and work with DC office a lot. Top of the market pay, but below market bonus. 1950 requirement with 2050 to be bonus eligible, but again that bonus isn’t top of the market. I have a pretty good work/life, took 4 weeks off this year and no one said anything (granted, had not taken a day off since the pandemic began). Of course also depends on your group, but overall Eversheds is a “follower” in most categories, not really a leader, that to say you still get interesting work and all. And also just very nice people overall in all offices - I have not worked with anyone who was rude, used expletives or did any other horrible thing you hear rumors about on fishbowl

Hi! First off, I know none of this constitutes legal advice, etc., but I’d like some outside perspectives and advice here.

My wife found out she makes ~25% less that her male co-worker did when he was her level of seniority, and they have the same job responsibilities and the exact same credentials (same undergrad, masters program, etc.); he now makes 50% more than she does, but has 3 more years of WE, so to me that’s not as applicable.

Does she have a claim here? Need any other details?

Hi everyone. I am posting to find out what Registered Nurses are starting off at in Florida per hr? Specifically Registered Nurses in the speciality area of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Also, What should a nurse with 7 years of experience be making per hr? I have been offered a job in Florida ( I am currently practicing in Toronto, Canada) and am wondering what is a reasonable rate to accept as what I’ve been offered is much lower than what I currently make.
Thank you!!! Xx

2) B-school to desired industry

In a new job (not even a month) and struggling to bill more than 7.5 hrs/day. Don’t have my own cases yet, just assignments from partners, and it’s a new area of law. I’m working 10-12 hours/day but feel like a sucky associate bc it’s taking me so long to do tasks since it’s a new field of law/new styles and tasks compared to my old partner/firm. I just don’t feel like my hours are reflecting my effort—any reassurance or tips/pieces of advice?

How do I find local attorneys to pair up with on cases? I’m licensed in an absurd number of cases and practice in debt defense/bankruptcy. So far, in all the states except my home state, all I’ve done is debt defense because with the 341s, it’s a little trickier than just sending local counsel. I’d draw up the plan and the attorneys in other states handle the more local aspects such as court appearances. I’m not asking how to get the clients, do a bankruptcy, or ethically split fees. Is it legal to dock pay, bonuses and/or origination payouts if billable time isn’t entered on time? Firm is threatening a 3 strike rule. Just seems off if you work for the money (it’s calculated based on rates/hours/business brought in) that they could threaten you this way. Firing? I understand that. I’m in Pennsylvania if that makes a difference.

I did it! I got the got the State to drop murder charges on my client a week before trial!! I took a huge gamble and let him talk to the State and tell his story and they believed him (as I did from pretty much our first meeting...he literally was just along for a ride when things turned bad) I had quite a few staring at the ceiling nights with that decision but it worked. My job as a PD is often thankless but today reminded me why I do it!

Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
