Hi Fishes, Pls help,
YOE: 13 yrs
Cctc: 13 lpa
Have cleared HCL interview. Initially they offered 23 lpa (via proposed offer letter), but i requested to reconsider it for 25 lpa.
After 5 days, they sent final offer letter of 19 lpa (stating they can offer max 50% as per L4 approval).
Queries:
1. Is this normal or rare case, reducing the offer amount from what quoted initially?
2. Should I accept or negotiate?
I don't have any other offer as of now.

Do they report to you? Are you responsible for their work?
I would add to what Director 1 wrote and say not to tell on them directly. As this can reflect poorly on you and how much of a team player you are. I would say that if you miss a deadline you can word it as “apologies for the delay but there were unforeseen revisions that needed to be completed. I am working with my team/associate to get them the coaching and support they need to avoid this in the future, etc”
I'd suggest you write a guideline of what you typically look for and have this person cross-check their work before it gets to you....if your line of work allows it. Good luck. 😀
Yes this could be useful. I have prepared instructions but this could be a good add-on
Give them tips on how to self review. If you find a mistake that would've been easily caught in a self-review, give the task back to them and tell them to self-review again. One of the hardest traits to teach somebody, like breaking a stallion
Oh this is a good idea thank you !
When I started, my boss would return any work with an error on it flagged with a red paper clip. No explaining, just, this is wrong, fix it. If I was truly stuck I could ask.
I still hate red paper clips but I learned. I think the key is to make that person feel your pain. Don’t fix it because it’s faster, make them fix it and get up at speed
Checklists? Almost like a review checklist where you’d list all the things you’d be looking for when you review and they have to go through the checklist first and review themselves before you do your review
Yes, as granular as you need to get to train then to think a certain way / look for certain things. Sometimes when we do something for so long, we just automatically learn what to look for, but someone just starting out, especially if they don’t have an attention to detail, does not think to look for certain things. The easiest way to do it would probably be either to create a checklist as you review by writing down what you’re looking for and what they missed and/or asking chat gpt to draft a checklist for you if it’s something basic and use that as a starting point for your checklist.
I would say that templates and checklists are you best friend. Give them enough guidance to where there is no room for error or missed details. Even the smaller tasks, it seems like they need help with everything!
I Have the same situation. It is getting worse when you are under pressure and thinking about mistaken never happened yet. Please, try to connect into your activity only, turn off louder music and try to play jazz or focus music. Dont think about the future, only what are you doing now, try to solve each problem at the time, breath and Pray every morning asking help and wisdow.
