Does anyone know any former elementary teacher who made a successful transition to UX or Product Design?

Of course, I have very little income to spare for additional training. I have an amateur freelance graphic design background and I’m teaching myself as much as I can, along with working on the Google UX Design certificate through Coursera.

I’m also trying to figure out how to best sell my teaching experience on a resume. I want to frame my data analysis skills, etc. any tips?

Please help! I’m a CRC who manages Investigator- led clinical research projects and I want to transition to a PM role in industry (I would slightly prefer not a PM role in clinical trials since I don’t have clinical trial experience.) How was you memorial day weekend?

I am pregnant and don’t feel pregnant most of the time. I’m only 6 weeks so have to wait awhile before any visual confirmation. And then you worry about all the ones after that before 24 weeks or so. How do you cope? I am trying to be positive. I’ve had a miscarriage before so I’m nervous as well. I try some calming meditation and things like head massages but that lasts an hour tops!!

When traveling for work can we use our personal credit card for expenses or do we have to use the corporate Amex? Also does our corporate Amex get points/perks that we can use for personal usage?

At my fiancés company they are able to use a personal card (which then they get all the points and perks) and then just expensive to they company.

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

However, I would love to find a way to combine my experience in disasters with UX research. I am switching careers and trying to get into the field of UX design. I made it to round two of the interview process for a UX Designer position, an interview with the hiring manager for this role. I have not made it this far before, are there any standard questions that get asked in UX interviews I should be aware of? Thanks I’m advance! I want to be as prepared as possible.

Looking for some advice on a career change. I work in a technical role and have well-developed soft skills. I want to transition to UX (w/ focus on accessibility). There are a lot of UX educational programs out there, some very new, e.g. Dribbble, and costs are all over the place - General Assembly is $15k (and full-time), CareerFoundry almost $8k, and then many others at a fraction of the price. Reviews also vary wildly. Are these more expensive programs worth the huge increase in cost?

I think I may have finally had it.

A couple of decades in this field and now I want to just walk away. The grind in tech is soul-destroying, and the vast majority of the time, coworkers outside of UX have no idea what it is, what it’s for, and how it’s applied. I’m at my wits end and the constant problem is a kind of “willful misunderstanding” of our process and value.

After wasting too many years on design immature companies, It’s senselessly depressing. I’ve given away too much of myself.

Any advice on getting started in UX?
