At that level title is irrelevant, it’s not a step backward at all.
I don’t find this uncommon. I will also say that that the range of ages within the consultant / SC level is so large. I’m a SC2 but I’m only 25 where some are 30.
I think it’s a great switch and you will probably like consulting!! I know someone as a manager in industry who came in as a consultant.
You’d be an experienced hire assoc. perfect situation to stand out above your cohort, lead teams, and get promoted.
Came here to say this. Gives you a slightly longer runway to demonstrate the skills necessary for promotion and you'll get to shine as an associate by doing the things a senior is expected to do.
Titles don't matter. Chase the money. That being said, I'm not sure 10% is worth jumping for.
Still doesn’t seem like enough....

You're good, fam.
Just curious, what is the new firm you are considering?
It's better to be in a place you can succeed rather than one that may be tougher. Money will come, so don't worry too much. If you do feel you're being short changed, see if you can get a more senior role with other firms
