M&A pre deal work: is this still usually Monday to Thursday travel? To a central office, acquirer office, or PE/bank?
Not a good day to start my 2 week vacation! Flight is scheduled to depart in 2 hours from ATL and still shows as on time . Pray for me 🐠s
I just want to hear the explanation for why staff who started during COVID are doing so badly on average (and I have heard this from every level including staff themselves) from the pro 100 percent work from home people. If you agree it’s real, what is your solution? If it can’t be fixed, are we just accepting that the people we expect to backfill our positions aren’t going to be ready?
Happy Thursday everyone! I know that as a profession and especially during this unprecedented time we constantly experience and are bombarded with negativity. Including the negativity in our lives away from work, which we see every time we get on social media platforms, or watch the news etc... therefore I thought we could put some positivity out there today and share some positive experiences that have been a result of this wfh/quarantine/pandemic.
Was told last night that myself and team need to fly to MD's home location today. Was supposed to be a remote week after a long week last week. So.burnt.out. I'm dying.
My skin isn't the best and with WFH - I have been doing the basics : moisturiser and sunscreen everyday which has really helped. Next year, I'm likely to be back full time in the office and on client site - and I want to do the bare minimum makeup wise. Can someone provide me your "bare minimum" routines and also - makeup/skincare brands! :)
This is about to be the first month in my life where I'm unable to pay off my credit card statement balance (about 2.5k leftover) and I'm feeling like such a failure. Any tips on how to mitigate the impact of this and get out of the hole asap?
Would you accept capping billable hours at 40/week in exchange for being able to work while completely remote?
Just saw a social media post by a CCCO that makes it sound like he’s suffering through this new WFH routine. Jesus. Get some perspective. And what is so tough about WFH? So old fashioned.
Took a later flight and got some delta credit. What should I redeem? 1) delta credit 2) amazon gift card 3) visa gift card 4) other
We want to go to Thailand with our 1 year old in Nov; however, we have been told we are crazy multiple times. We would hire nannies once there, but obviously it’s a bit scary with COVID (though when we mentioned the trip to our pediatrician, he seemed more concerned about the 20+ hour travel time. We are flying business, if that helps). Could anyone provide perspective on how you might consider whether to cancel? Should we do something else (e.g. Europe, Mexico, etc.). The trip is 2+ weeks long
Is there a time when people generally “start” work remotely? Back when I was a summer before the pandemic, I commonly saw people go in between 9-10 am but I didn’t know what the norm is now that we are remote. I see emails at 8 am and I’m not sure if I’m expected to respond then or not. Also if you are on a deal where some of the members are in NY and you’re in the Midwest, are you expected to go by their times and be on when they are on?
Is any of the Big 4 forcing you back to the office? Thinking about joining but don’t really want to give up WFH.
Took a flight back from client at noon. Bumped to first class. I swear they tried to get me drunk 🍸🍸🍸🍸
I am actively looking for job change. I would be fit for the roles like- healthcare consultant, knowledge management, pre-sales analyst, business development, strategy planning. Please help with the same.
How do you ask for a raise when you know your CCO is going to start by saying he went above and beyond for you and really did his best. But you know you are underpaid.
Would you choose an investment job at a private, partner-owned long only fund where you’re guaranteed to never lose your job& can be a multimillionaire; or at a very top L/S HF where the bottom performers are fired each year, but you could make multimillions in a good year? Another related q, would you forego the offer at the first place to potentially get the offer at the second place, knowing it’s very competitive? Assume you’re target background, at another top fund, good work ethics
Question: How long would you stay in a role where your work was never appreciated by your managers but had great feedback and recognition from your customers.

How is it that you can fly with a baby in your lap with no seatbelt—yet laptop in the seat back pocket is not allowed. I promise you getting hit with a projectile baby is gonna hurt!!
I’m currently in biglaw and interviewing for an in house role. I had an interview with HR where they asked my salary expectations and I basically said I’m flexible but the opportunity is what’s important to me. They then said their targeting x amount for the role and I said that was in the ballpark of what I would consider. Does anyone have experience with this line of questioning from HR and has anyone negotiated for higher than the number they initially said they were targeting?
How do I get rich enough to have a dedicated office room in NYC apartment? Married, no kid and currently live in 500sqft 1bd apartment.
I’m just starting up as a freelancer after years of being a full time agency employee. Any big watch outs before finalizing my contract? What about frequency of invoicing and defining billable time? Any guidance on freelancing dos and don’ts is much appreciated.
Received a job offer at a consulting firm as a data analytics consultant for $20k more than I am making now. I am torn on taking the job offer because my manager told me I was getting promoted at the end of the year to a data analyst. I am not sure what the salary range for a data analyst is at my current job. Should I take the job or wait it out to see what my end of year raise would look like? I really like my job and team so leaving would be tough, but this raise is something to consider.
Hi fishes, Had an interview, the interviewer asked why do we need streams jdk8? Told following answers:1. It allows functional programming by filter, map, reduce way of applying operations on collections. 2. We can use intermediate operations for lazy iterations n ternary ops for finally giving out desired output, jvm can improve performance for intermediate ops. 3.reduction of code that we hv to write n ease of passing behaviour in stream function.
