Hi guys, Now VMware is offering me a 35% percent hike of what I am earning at DellEmc. I just completed one year at DellEmc. Total 2.7YOE But I don't like to go out of Dell, due to some personal commitments I am planning to switch.
Is it a good time to switch?
Can I talk with my manager ?
Are they able to hike the salary of what VMware is offering? Please suggest me.

EY gets 22 days of PTO once you make senior. 3 personal days. 13ish holidays (cant remember) and 2 weeks of sick time.
Never had to request PTO with a form
I’m in tax, never had to submit a paper form. Your “sick days” are included in vacation. I get 6 weeks, plus we’ve had extended 4th of July last couple years. Not sure what’s going on with your experiences.
I feel like our benefits are rather good overall
Couldn’t agree more. It’s definitely different office by office, but if anything I feel like I have more flexibility to take time off or work from home than some of my peers in audit (can’t speak for consulting or advisory as I do not know). It just depends on your team and service line expectations in your office
Lol are you sure you work at Deloitte? I’m in tax, although TMC, so we don’t have busy season and it’s more consulting work but never had any of the issues you mentioned and our pay and benefits are great. I work from home unless I have to be at the client site. No July 4th week off? You should have plenty of PTO days to just take the additional days
Never had to use a paper form for PTO, that's an office thing. There are no sick days because you get a generous amount of PTO, and use these for sick days.
I may not know about the benefits, but pretty positive your technology could not be worse than EYs
My friends who work at DT have taken vacation without needing to apply for it. They also have a giant holiday party so not sure what’s going on with your office.
EY likes to give long weekend holidays so we get 2 days off for 4th of July but need to use 3 vacation days, and I know there’s a couple Deloitte holidays that we don’t get because we have 2 days off for the 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, etc. We did get I think 2 more days of total vacation vs Deloitte since last year. But you guys have more vacation days and at least where I live your transportation benefits are WAY ahead of EY’s (I’m talking $60-$80 per month). Point is, DT doesn’t lack benefits. EY and Deloitte just have different benefits that net pretty similarly. In fact, I think DT benefits are slightly better where I live.
Also EY1 DT equivalent of staff 1 get 4 weeks of vacation lol. So it’s still better than EY unless you use your sick days as PTO.
You're prob in tax which is completely different than the rest of Deloitte. I worked at Deloitte for two years in advisory and worked w tax folks. Completely diff culture in tax and very little benefits. Advisory is far better , you get paid more you get to take pto anytime get to work from home anytime and great holiday party might i add. I urge you to switch to advisory which has been done
What office are you in? This sounds like small office culture more than anything.
I’m in Tax BTS in a large office and we had a huge 4/15 party this week and our PTO policy is email your PPMDs to let them know. Most don’t care.
Yeah, Chicago is the second largest BTS practice, the largest tax cost center since NYC is split in 4 and Chicago is combined. No issues. Request a transfer.
