Hello all,
I'm currently working on azure cloud in Cognizant . I've about 1.4 years of experience now. I've got an offer from Axtria as an L1 Analyst. Could anyone please suggest if the change in field is worth it. Or should I just look for other jobs in cloud only? I will have to decide this at the earliest so please do help me with it.

That’s why I got EGAs tattooed all over my face, so no one is ever surprised

A fishbowl full of crayons does the trick too.
Not yet. But then again I'm in DC and half the city are veterans. So nobody is too shocked about it.

Nah it’s usually just a ‘oh that’s cool’ then they move on. I don’t talk about my service too much anyways.
Exactly. Maybe (extremely rarely, nowadays) a "Thank you for serving (or 'for your service to') our country.", and then they keep it pushing.
I try to bring it up during our first interaction so that I get to say "you're welcome!"
BAH3....why wait till 50!?
Had one of my buddies wear an OIF cap as soon as he got out, he was 23 or 24...lol.
He did wear it in a toungue-in-cheek manner though...which made it funnier....goddamn millenials....lol
I have - longer hair, keep a 5 o clock shadow, and have been doing this long enough that it never comes up, nor is it part of my vernacular. I remember how good it felt when he looked at me and said, “you were in the military?!?!” It hasn’t hindered anything that I know of, but he does look at me differently.
Not really. Have you had an experience like that, OP? Curious to hear!
Yep, it's just now starting to happen.
I just transferred regions and there's a prevailing negative attitude about veterans in my new office. Not that I've ever believed the military is the holy grail other people do but I've noticed a difference once people find out unless their parents or siblings were also veterans.
Oddly enough, my time is about to be outside that core / typical 10 yr window to highlight on your resume and I'm about to take it off mine a I get ready to look for new opportunities a a whole.

I try to avoid bringing it up but eventually you run out of civilian stories.
Most people are impressed and thank me for my service. They understand that veterans made a commitment & sacrifice that most won’t. Shocked to learn of your negative experience. What state is this in? Could there have been a previous problem with the military/personnel in that area?
