Hi fishes,
How is the wlb in Amex?
Cognizant Recently cognizant have changed their internet wfh allowance policy.we use to get 1800 per month as internet allowance without submitting any bills or transaction details. Now they changed the policy as we need to apply for icici/axis/hdfc credit card from there we need to make the transaction and reimburse the same. I am ok with everything but why i need to apply for credit card? How a company can force me to have a credit card? It will directly/indirectly alter the credit score right? Cogniza

Same thing happened at Deloitte. At the end of the day, employers don’t GAF about their employees

EY1 and D1, I am a visa holder myself and just want to let u two know that D has laid off many citizens and LPRs before they touched a visa holder. Regardless the situation sucks ! Good luck
@D2, so many people I know on Visa were laid off on the first day in June when it started at D this year. So please spare me with that explanation. Are you who is someone affected by layoff at the D? If not I know innumerable people including me on Visa who were affected.
I agree that EY has been messing with visa holders a lot lately. They even claim to have applied for my H1B but I know 20 people who EY said they applied for and none of us got it. It can’t be mere coincidence. Additionally, every time I seek any clarification with respect to my application like tracking number, petition update etc, they just shut me down by giving some BS excuse.
If they don’t want us here, they can be direct rather than trying to keep us in the dark
This is really surprising guys. I ( and me team) always received tracking numbers, INS-Zoom gets updated frequently with status, tracking details etc.. especially if you also have a dependent, you get recipient notice to your home address directly. Don’t have an immigration contact to reach out? Try speaking with your supervisor. He/she might be able to help. There are some conferences on how immigration team is working/ improving, why isn’t anyone raising these concerns? Try raising these in open forums, with broader group, if you want an answer. Posting here only helps in nothing but venting. I say, start by posting in Yammer, tag immigration team etc..by the way, i am on H1 too, just got my 3rd renewal done. If there is any problem for me or my team, we ring our partner immediately. Usually she stays on top, reviews everything and makes sure we get all the support we need. I am really surprised to see some of these issues.

Define huge. What % of the total pool of people laid off were on visas? Were they high performers and got laid off? This post sounds like it's missing some key info.
Yes, I will send you a detailed analysis at your email 😀
EY seems to be opposite, they touched most of the Visa holders
Same here EY, a disproportionate number of H1B and other Visa holders were affected at Deloitte.

Do you have evidence that EY treated visa workers differently?
Are you FBI?
I don’t think so. I know contractors for whom they applied for H1Bs. Also, EY is risk averse. They wouldn’t do something you can so easily sue them for
EY4, what does your contract say again?
I thought the market was good recently?? Did EY lose a lot of clients? I thought companies were terrified and laid off people around May/June only.
EY is being reactive than proactive. They sat on it for some time. But, wish they could have been bit more honest to say layoffs and do layoffs, no shame in layoffs during these times, rather than finding reasons to fire and labeling people.
Probably because leadership proudly announced to not layoff anyone early on. So, probably trying not to look like going back on their word. I think, it is okay to accept a mistake/judgement and adjusting to market than the way it is being implemented now.
I am also on H1, none of team got impacted with this. Know of one in my service line who was let go though, don’t know the reason and how it was handled honestly.

OP - Which practice and group did this happen in?
I am getting kicked out. Not much time left on h1 but they don't seem to care. However it has been the same for non visa holders as well
How many more years on your H1B left? Can you transfer to another firm?
EY 6, how much notice they gave you ?
EY8- what level?
Chief
It seems employees who didn’t already have an H1b or were on H1b, but maxing six years without an i140 have been asked to leave ?
It’s everyone with you or without I-140
What about people on L1 ?
Were they on the bench?
I wonder what’s the incremental cost once H1B workers started working for a firm. Isn’t that all the H1B application/transfer already spent upfront before people start?
There's additional cost after h1b, i.e., for green card applications, since mostly ppl will want to start green card application asap
Also EY seems like to own the law firm or at least EY branch or something, so there's cost running the firm
