Or rather, Facebook will only pay market wages. Which I think is fine.
I live in SF and earn 140, great nominal wage right? My friend lives in Alabama, earns 100, which is equivalent to ~220-240k SF. Underscores how much wages are inflated to match COL in the bay.
There are two kinds of devs. Superstars that can command 300k TC regardless of locality, and the more common skilled dev that can command 300k TC in one of the most expensive COL areas in the country.
Unfortunately a lot of people think they're in group #1.

Lol. As if folks depend on salary. It's all RSU baby!!
I mean if you leave for lower COL makes sense. Silicon Valley is RIDIC
I think it’s fair to lose a COL adjustment if you move to a low COL city to work remotely.
I 100% agree.
Pretty sure the RSUs will start going down real fast. Less refreshes and lower packages to new hires. This will take a while but it will be very noticeable in the next few years
This is fine — when the majority of your comp is RSUs, a small hit in base salary is nothing.

Add the COL column to the spreadsheet, calculate the adjustment, sort and sum and bam. Give me my 20% contingency baby!
