Feeling a little bit low-balled by a Bay Area public company offering me a role at 145K w/ 9years of experience. Will it sound ridiculous if I counter with $175K? It will still be a COL adjustment down, but more acceptable, especially with my partner relocating with me and him working remotely.

In recent performance reviews, I received a level change and a pay raise effective March (so retroactive pay). I’ve recently given my notice and am now being told because I’m leaving before the next pay date, I’m no longer eligible for my back pay. Is this legal? This wouldn’t be the first time I’m chasing down money owed to me by this company.

I have given my interview in HCL and cleared 1 TP, 1 hcl manager & Client TP and Client Manager rounds .
In initial screening HR told the generic statement of 30-40% and I have given my ask as 50% minimum. After clearing the rounds I heard from the project team that Client has given great feedback and wanted to take me in .
What is the % I can ask in HR Discussion and will they reject in HR if I ask more now .

My job search for L&E roles has been a bit of an uphill battle, because most of the roles require significant L&E experience. Would it be a bad idea to take a non-partner track role in an AmLaw100 firm’s L&E group in order to break into the field? What kinds of jobs would I be marketable for afterwards?

I’m currently one of the largest media agencies and we don’t have a comms practice. I’ve applied for connections strategy roles at other agencies but haven’t heard anything back. Is it frowned upon by tech companies to ask about sign on bonus? I’m not in tech but the recruiter seemed really pissed off and offended that I asked about sign on bonus, and told me I should not bring it up during the recruiter call. Words, “I’m sure you are a nice person, but it doesn’t look good if you ask about sign on bonus during the recruiter call” I didn’t know there was an underlying rule like that, I really didn’t know its offending if I ask about sign on bonus.
