Feeling today that the 35 years until I retire may not be enough time to find the success I want at the pace I'm going. Maybe its just negative thoughts but I feel like the hard work and grind may not cut it and that I'm going to need more luck. What do you think? Is success based on luck, hard work, or some type of mixture?

You’ve got good time to build an incredible retirement plan. High yield savings accounts, 401k, IRAs and index funds, real estate, land, other investments. Just tuck that money away a little at a time. Instead of buying that Starbucks coffee, that extra case of beer or whatever your indulgence is take that $5 or $10 that you would normally spend on this stuff and put it into the accounts. I never understand how people spend $10 on coffee on a daily basis when that equates to a few hundred a year. A little bit along the way will pay off in 35 years. Always remember to pay yourself first at every paycheck. Even if it’s 5 or 10 percent… pay yourself first and tuck that away.

Such a good point. I am always forgetting about the power of compound interest. Thanks for the timely reminder!

I totally believe that luck and coincidence play a big role in our success. And I also believe we can do a lot to influence our own luck. I don't mean things like having lucky items in our pockets or manifesting things. It's like the old line about how the harder we work the luckier we get. It's a matter of being prepared to capitalize when opportunities present themselves.

like

Great way to put it. Preparation is key

So much could change in 35 years. Yes you might be in a slow pace right now, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have fast-paced growth years either.

I hope so. I need to look at the glass half full more often. Haha

It’s a mixture of a few different things, namely network, grit, creativity, intelligence, charisma, and luck. Ranked most to least important in my opinion, but they all matter. Having less of one can be made up by more of another higher up on the list

That being said, the difference between successful and wildly successful is mostly luck

Good to know. I really need to improve my network

Refine success for yourself. It’s not all about a job title or money.

Depends where and how you live.

Also if you have 35 years until retirement, you have tons of time to save.

Is success based on luck? Yes. But luck is not magic. Luck is what happens when your preparation (learning to explain your past) meets opportunity (the right job opening).

You aren't doomed to 35 years of misery. You are just at a painful inflection point where you have to change your approach. The strategy will get you the next level

Thank you. Good thoughts

I totally understand how you are feeling. But I really think it depends on what you define as success. I have often felt that way but had to sit down and redefine what success looked like for me. It is different for everyone and only you can decide what success looks like.

Very true. Thank you

I know that deer in the headlights thinking. I did that when I was younger. What you could do is really think about what you want to accomplish and research how you can go about making that happen. I didn't have that understanding back in my 20s and researching was more difficult because we don't have a robust internet and YouTube back then. Thankfully you do have those things as well as coaches to your disposal. So my suggestion is first think about what your goals are. Do your homework on how to achieve them. Then make small goals once you've mapped out what you want to do. Good luck!

Thank you! My biggest struggle is not really knowing what to do. I just want to be happy and provide for my family and make a good impact on the world. Pretty basic

If you need an astrological consultation, I am willing to help. you def need to look at your transits and understand your chart, your midheaven, and your purpose. your north node. it will tell you alot about your career and where you are heading. it will indicate significant life changes that align with your highest path. I am sure there are transits that are happening for you that are making you question these things. Do not worry, just wonder and be curious and explore. The stars pave out what you can be lucky in and what you need to place focus on to achieve more abundance. cheers.

Tbh I hadn't even considered astrology. How did you get into it? Does it work?

For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA

I have a business idea in the VR/AR space utilizing AI. However, I lack skill sets to evaluate viability or to create an MVP. Neither do I have a network to tap into.

My plan is taking classes to deepen my knowledge while joining and actively participating in communities to find collaborators.

Does this approach make sense or do you recommend other approaches? If it makes sense, do you have any recommendations for classes or communities?

Look forward to hearing your experiences and wisdom!
